BIG Picture

Approved by the Department of Learning Services 2010

What do students need to know, understand, and be able to do? As a standards-based district, we need to identify specifically and clearly the standards, grade level expectations, and evidence outcomes that all students should learn.

How will we know students have learned? In order to ensure students learn the grade level expectations, evidence outcomes, 21st century concepts, and skills identified in district curricula, we must regularly monitor student learning through a variety of assessment strategies.

Where Do I Find the Unit Plans? Curricular Resources

Common Core endnotes will appear here at the end of the document

With an elbow partner please discuss the following questions: o What do you notice about the new unit plans? What is new to you? What is different to you? What questions do you have?

Please identify each of the statements in your handout as either: Prepared Graduate Competency (PGC) Grade Level Expectations (GLE) Evidence Outcomes (EO) Inquiry Questions (IQ) Relevance and Application (R&A) Nature of Discipline (ND)

“Unwrap” the Evidence Outcomes What students need to know and be able to do within the standards
