Nothing Gold Can Stay Nature’s first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf, So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day Nothing gold can stay. Now listen to this song by Stevie Wonder.

A NSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS BASED ON YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF F ROST ’ S POEM & W ONDER ’ S S ONG. 1. What do you think “staying gold” means? 2. What gold did Ponyboy have that didn’t last? 3. Is the message of the poem & the song supposed to be sad? Why or why not?
