1 Nature’s first green is gold
By: Robert Frost Power point by: Cassidy Kiko and Shelby Lewis

2 Nature’s first green is gold
This line of the poem reminds me of when the sun rises in the morning making everything look golden. It shows that nature’s first green, spring, is coming after a long, cold winter.

3 Her hardest hue to hold When the leaves change color in the fall this line in the poem comes to my mind. This line also recaps when the flowers of spring start to bloom sprouting lots of color.

4 Her early leafs a flower
This line of the poem makes me think of when the flowers and tree buds start to bloom in the spring. It is a beautiful spring day when this line comes to mind.

5 But only so an hour In my eyes this line means, that spring does not seem long enough. It also means to me that the beautiful day is coming to an end.

6 Then leaf subsides to leaf
Reading this line of the poem reminds me of when the leaves fall to the ground as new leaves and tree buds begin to bloom.

7 So eden sank to grief The sadness and coldness of winter, when everything freezes and the gold is gone, caps this line of the poem. In the Bible, a story about Eden is used to describe the feeling of this line.

8 So dawn go down to day This line is showing when the sun sets and the day is over. It shows the repeating days, months, years, and seasons happening over and over again.

9 Nothing gold can stay The final line repeats the title of this poem. It tells that times go on and everything golden cannot stay like that forever. When you experience a golden time enjoy them while they last.

10 Theme The final line of this poem describes the theme very well. In the final line it explains how not everything golden will last forever. You should enjoy things while they last because you will eventually have a bad day. For an example, life goes on like seasons throughout the year, and sometimes it is your favorite season, or maybe your least favorite. Not all days are perfect or golden but this makes you appreciate the bad ones.
