Economic Development Officer (EDO) Update as of September 8, 2015 MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS Objective to Grow Workforce & Investment  EDCNS Prosperity Summit “Accelerating and Celebrating Growth in North Simcoe” June 25, 2015 Marketing/promotion/registration resulted in 142 registered All key players in the room: County and municipalities, C-suite executives attended and all local educators: Georgian College, Lakehead University and York University International representation inc. European Union Chamber of Commerce in Canada (EUCCAN) Media coverage on Rogers TV All segments of the Summit were filmed and distributed via over 250 and telephone calls The survey indicated approval and interest to attend the June 16, 2016 Prosperity Summit Some sponsorship has been received and a plan to replicate the Summit County-wide has been discussed Labor Market Partnership with Simcoe County  Annual General Meeting (AGM) July 9, 2015 / Financials for Dec. 31, 2014 approved Kevin Cowie replaces Christ Johnston as Chairman Marisa de Zotti resigned, a Board Member will be recruited with an advertisement in the Mirror on Sept. 17  Municipal deputations: Tay-Nov.11-10am, Midland-Nov.23-7pm, Penetanguishene-Nov.25-7pm, Tiny-Nov.30-10:30am SECTOR FOCUS Objective to Promote Our Story North Simcoe Tourism EDCNS representative – Kevin Cowie  Incorporated, Board established, and Tourism Director hired in August  EDCNS representative Kevin Cowie Agriculture Ambassador – Pierre Paul Maurice  Foodland Ontario funding partner for Prosperity Summit  Events: Oct – (1) Midland Food Entrepreneurs Celebrating Growth (2) Agriculture Expo Agricole and Corn Fest in Tiny Aug Healthcare Ambassador – Doug Ewen  Met with Waypoint Centre resulting in shared promotion Advanced Manufacturing Ambassador – Clare Boudreau  Sector funding and Labor Market Partnership INVESTMENT DEVELOPMENT Funding Applications Objective To sustain EDCNS and support business retention and expansion  Businesses requiring infrastructure and investment for retention and job growth were identified for the Federal Government by the 4 Mayors and the EDO. Meetings are held regularly to monitor progress. One application submitted. Meetings are scheduled in September with federal candidates.  Three funding application submitted, 2 approved, 1 undergoing approval process. Additional 1 in development for application  Regular contact with businesses and funders from federal and provincial government  One expansion business referred International Investment Objective to Create EDCNS Awareness  Germany investment for manufacturing, on hold  Criteria for investment submitted to Swiss Consulate in New York for manufacturing, follow-up ongoing Investment Opportunities Objective to Grow Workforce & Investment  Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (ICI) inventory (Simcoe County lead)  ICI opportunities in North Simcoe are updated on the EDCNS website monthly  Business leads in the sales pipeline database being qualified and we have contact through Prosperity Summit marketing follow-up (30 contacts per month)  Advocating business friendly/investment ready  A North Simcoe investment opportunity package is being developed using new membership in the Community Data Program
