The Chinese Pasta By Julia Maginot

When Was The Chinese Pasta Invented? O The Chinese Pasta was invented around 300 BC, shortly after the Chinese noodle (about 350 BC). The Chinese Pasta, nowadays and in 300 BC, were very similar-they just had way less pasta back then.

Why/Where did the Chinese invent Pasta? O The Chinese invented pasta for more food! O They had pasta year round. O It is said that the Chinese wanted to have more than just a couple single noodles. O The Chinese Pasta was invented in the south of China.

How was the Chinese Pasta Invented? O “Pasta” is an Italian word for “dough”. All pasta is made from a dough made of grain flour mixed with water. There are many different shapes and sizes of pasta. The shape of the noodle determines the name of the pasta. O Examples- O Spaghetti-”cord.” O Linguini- “little tongues” O Conchiglie- “shells”

The Story of Pasta O Popular legend has it that Marco Polo introduced pasta to Italy following his exploration of the Far Easy in the late 13 th century. The Chinese were making a noodle- like food as early as 3000 B.C. After a good amount of Italians have tried pasta, it got back to the “New World”. There are still many arguments of if it’s Italy’s pasta, or China’s, but research shows that China was the first to have pasta.

Pasta Compare/Contrast Ancient China Pasta Modern Day Pasta O No ingredients used in the pasta, that are used today. (Not clean or safe) O Not a large portion of pasta. O On most menus, at restaurants. O Popular in Italy. O Can get different kinds (Spaghetti)
