Digital Responsibility Created by Ms. Madeley Digital Literacy Resource Teacher Welcome Back Assembly

How do you spend you time on the Internet? *** What kinds of things do you do?

What is a DIGITAL FOOTPRINT ? Everything you put on the Internet that is about you.. ➔ visiting a website, ➔ sending an , ➔ chatting with friends, ➔ posting a review of an app ➔ writing on your friend's Facebook wall. Your digital footprint is your online presence.

Grandma Rule...

Don’t post photos, videos or messages online you wouldn’t want your grandmother to see.

Cyberbullying: There is a way out!

1. Don’t respond. 2. Block or ban the bully. 3. Save the evidence. 4. Set-up a new account (choose new friends, and be selective about who you add). 5. Tell an adult you trust. 6. REPORT to authorities. So What if I’ve Been Bullied ? What do I do ?

Take-Aways Protect your privacy! 1. Protect your reputation. 1. Nothing is private online. 1. Assume everyone is watching. 1. Apply “GRANDMA’S RULE”. 1. Watch the clock...

Internet Safety Rules To Live By... Talk-it out before buying - in your case, ask permission! Do not give out personal information online without your parent’s permission. Create a personalized nickname. Have a strong password. Only “chat” or with people you know.

Continued... Tell your parents, or another adult you trust, if and when something makes you feel uncomfortable. Practise good “Netiquette”. Do not believe everything that you read or see on the Internet!
