U.S. Branches of Government Lecture 1

Branches Legislative Congress- 2 from each state House of Representatives- 435 members Executive President & Vice President His Cabinet (a bunch of secretaries and Attorney General Judicial Supreme court- 9 Justices

Duties of Each Branch Legislative Make Laws Write bills, then discuss and vote on them Executive Approve Laws Receive bills, then approve or veto Judicial Enforce Laws Determine constitutionality of actions

Legislative Branch Senate Six year term Must be at least 30 years Must be a citizen for 9 years 435 members, divided by state population House of Representatives Two year term Must be at least 25 years Must be a US citizen for 7 years 50 members, 2 from each state
