Origin Came from central Europe Spread from the British Isles to Gallatia 600 BC – the Gaels 300 BC – the Cymri or Britons Occupied the former Iberian lands in Britain

Society Basic unit – the clan Clans formed tribes Primitive system – no private property or social classes Different customs, social structures and religions Varied from tribe to tribe

Everyday life Lived in villages Built forts with ditches Tamed and bred animals Caught fish, grew wheat and corn Handycraft Cared about cleanliness
