TODAY we’ll be discussing our CORE VALUES-- We will address the following: WHAT are they? WHO is involved? WHERE should they be practiced? HOW can we demonstrate them? WHY are they important?

Today’s ESSENTIAL QUESTION is… What are our CORE VALUES and why are they important?

Let’s start with… 1) Defining CORE VALUES: - Core values are a set of beliefs that help form the foundation of how a group performs and behaves. - They are typically defined using words or phrases - EXAMPLES- Core Values of the USA - Life - Liberty - Pursuit of Happiness 2) Discussion… Think of a group that you are involved with (sports, family, community). Identify some CORE values that would define that group

WHAT are UTT’S CORE VALUES? ATTITUDE COMMITMENT ACHIEVEMENT Discussion… What do you think these core values mean? How can these Core Values lead to success in school?

Core Values can be applied EVERYWHERE!

HOW can we demonstrate our CORE VALUES? TURN to the ACA chart in your policies and procedures packet and review the examples of attitude, commitment, and achievement. Be prepared to share your findings— Based on the information in the text, how can you… demonstrate ACA in the classroom? demonstrate ACA during lunch and snack? demonstrate ACA in the library? demonstrate ACA during passing period? DISCUSSION Are there any other ACA examples we can add to the chart?
