4 Musical Connection In a paragraph, connect a lyric from Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” to Beowulf. Cite sources. Use the sample paragraph on your blue “Musical Connection” handout for help. Paragraphs should develop with the following format: C--claim E--evidence I--interpretation

5 “Immigrant Song” –Led Zeppelin Ah, ah, We come from the land of the ice and snow, From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow. The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands, To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming! On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore. Ah, ah, We come from the land of the ice and snow, From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow. How soft your fields so green, can whisper tales of gore, Of how we calmed the tides of war. We are your overlords. On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore. So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins, For peace and trust can win the day despite of all your losing.

6 Musical Connection Assignment Remember to use CEI for in EACH paragraph: Claim: Should be your first sentence introduce your claim/topic sentence/thesis Evidence: 1+ line from song 1+ line from Beowulf Make sure to utilize Lead-in/Signal Phrases Don’t forget to CITE!
