Two questions Please write at least one paragraph in response to each of the following questions. When you finish, please hold on to your paper. 1.Compare the two monsters. Does the behavior of Grendel’s mother seem as wicked or unreasonable as Grendel’s behavior? Support your opinion with evidence from the text. 2.Compare and contrast Beowulf’s view of fate with Oedipus’ view of fate. Which one do you agree with more? Why?

Syntax Analysis Choose one of the paragraphs you wrote. Number the sentences. Create/fill in the following chart. # of sentence First Four Words Verbs Special Features # words/sentence Write down the number of the sentence. Write down the first four words of the sentence. Write down all the verbs in the sentence. Write down any prepositions, adjectives, adverbs, participial phrases, etc., in the sentence. Write down how many words are in the sentence.

After analyzing the syntax of your paragraph… write a brief evaluation of your writing. What patterns did you notice? What is something you did well? What is something you can improve?
