Please turn in your planners on the chair by my desk. Using the vocabulary words below create a sentence for each word: Ostentatious: characterized by vulgar or pretentious display; designed to impress or attract notice. (Adj.) 4 1st Formative Please read through the article and highlight and or underline and similarities and difference you find between the movie and the article. Take notes on the margins of the article of interesting facts or any thoughts that come to mind. When you have finished with marking the text (highlighting and writing in the margins). Write and transfer information into you Cornell note sheet. You need to come up with questions on the left and information on the right. Make sure you fill out topic, EQ, and summary. Due at the end of class. This is your FIRST formative of the Quarter.

5 2nd Formative Give me an outline of your 5 paragraphs and get started on the intro paragraph and thesis statement. In your outline, I would like to see at least 3 details you will be writing about. Thesis Statement: A short statement, usually one sentence, that summarizes the main point or claim of an essay, research paper, etc., and is developed, supported, and explained in the text by means of examples and evidence. Indicate the point of your paper but avoid sentence structures like, “The point of my paper is…” What is the point of your paper? (It’s going to be somewhat different for everyone)

The differences between college and high school are pronounced, and they deserve thorough investigation. The similarities between R-rated movies and PG-rated movies are pronounced, and they merit rigorous scrutiny.
