The Rise and Fall of Napoleon

Political Successes Napoleon seizes power in France & becomes an absolute ruler appointed “consul” for life Napoleon has himself crowned Emperor Napoleon I People allowed him to have this power because of the positive changes he made in France

Military Successes Napoleon expanded the French empire by conquering surrounding countries His empire included parts of Italy, Spain, Holland, and other areas near France! Napoleon’s greatest failure came when he could not capture his enemy, England.

The Fall of Napoleon failed invasion in Russia due to the cold and starvation forced Napoleon’s army to retreat- huge defeat that costs Napoleon his fame. Other European countries attacked France. Napoleon is captured & sent into exile on the island of Elba France places King Louis XVII on the throne!!!!!!!!!!!

Napoleon comes back!!!!! Napoleon escapes Elba & retakes control of the French army He tries one last time to invade England but is stopped by the Duke of Wellington at Waterloo. After this defeat, Napoleon is forced into a final exile on the island of St. Helena. Napoleon dies here years later.
