Past Projects / Inspiration Police Quest, LA Noire Video games where you collect clues and interrogate suspects to solve smaller cases, with larger overarching story

The Story Premise Players are part of a fictional police task force assigned to investigate organized drug crimes They will use video surveillance and wiretaps to gather evidence against individuals in one specific organization The project will work as its own narrative, a tie-in to a police drama TV show, and a contest World The story takes place in New York City, with the characters’ fiction related through recorded phonecalls, video, and live events Players will be part of the story, as they take on the role of detectives within the world Character Stories Since the project is contest-based, and appeals to players’ enjoyment of the game itself (gathering evidence, receiving rewards, and competing/collaborating), the story won’t be the primary focus Instead, the story will be used to draw players in as they listen to the surveillance media The story will mostly be told through subplots for groups of characters that players can piece together while viewing/listening

Characters Character Stories ~8-10 characters Head of the task force/police captain will give video briefings each week Character-centered stories that are relatable in some way One story will focus on young teenagers at the lowest level of the organization Another will be about a member who’s just been promoted, and is conflicted about having to commit crimes against innocent people

The Contest Website Sections Bulletin Board –Players can rearrange photo cards on the bulletin board to map out the organization’s hierarchy –Here, they can assign evidence to individual suspects Video Surveillance –Players can watch video camera footage during live events or review previously recorded video –They can select sections of video or still images to use as evidence Wiretap –Players can listen to phone calls that happen live or review previously recorded audio –They can select sections of audio to cut out and use as evidence Database –Community aspect, where players can use evidence gathered by other agents, giving them the credit for it and increasing that agent’s score –Players can form task forces/groups with their friends to pool evidence, divide up time checking the website
