Dietitians provide individuals, organizations, and companies with information and advice about food and nutrition.
Dietitians usually: Keep up with the latest nutritional science research. Explain nutrition issues. Develop meal plans. Promote better nutrition by giving talks to groups about diet and nutrition. There are 3 types of Dietitians: 1) Clinical Dietitians- provide medical nutrition therapy. 2) Management Dietitians- plan meal programs. 3) Community Dietitians- educate the public on topics related to food and nutrition.
Dietitians mostly work inside hospitals, clinics, schools, government agencies, non- profit organizations, and sport facilities. Dietitians usually work full time, although 20 percent work part time.
To be a Dietitian you have to: 1. Graduate all four years 2. Have a Bachelors degree in dietetics, foods, and nutrition. 3. College students in these majors take courses such as: foods, nutrition, chemistry, biochemistry, and biology. 4. Have a license to work in most states.
The employment of Dietitians has increased by about 20 percent from 2010 to 2020, faster than average for all occupations.
In May 2010, Dietitians and nutritionists earn over $50,000. Now the workers have earned less. About 33,000-75,000 If you become one of the Top 10 workers you earn more.
Dietitians mostly use computers for researching and looking up nutritional facts on the Internet. They usually use notebook computers, impedance meters, glucose monitors, and calorimeters.
I still want to do this career because you get to help and teach people about their diet. Also, because I love food.
