Reader’s Theater Choral Reading

Reader’s Theater a style of theater in which the actors do or do not memorize their lines. Actors use only vocal expression to help the audience understand the story rather than visual storytelling such as sets, costumes, intricate blocking, and movement. Source:

Reader’s Theater Help students improve their reading skills. The acting out of dialogue causes readers to work more closely with the text to project and interpret meaning into the reading experience  students gain improvement in vocabulary, comprehension and retention. Reading in a small group provides reading role models which is also proven to improve reading skills in students. Research has shown that Readers Theatre can improve reading fluency, word choice and comprehension. Source:

READER’S THEATRE PERFORMANCE Choral Reading

Reader’s Theatre Performance Students can read the script To help the audience, students can prepare the setting using LCD. Students can use costume and can bring properties (but limited, the property can be imaginary too) Students can move as long as not disturbing the reading’ process (limited movements) If one student plays more than one character: to differentiate the characters, she/he can use different costume and/ or properties. But the most important thing is the voice must be different from one to another character.
