CAREER RESEARCH DINA DING

PHOTOJOURNALIST Photographer Journalist I like taking photo to record something. I would like to travel the world as well. Arts, A/V Technology, and Communications

DESCRIPTION Photographers use their technical expertise, creativity, and composition skills to produce and preserve images that visually tell a story or record an event.

10 CHARACTERISTICS Artistic ability. Photographers capture their subjects in images, and they must be able to evaluate the artistic quality of a photograph. Photographers need "a good eye"—the ability to use colors, shadows, shades, light, and distance to compose good photographs. Business skills. Photographers must be able to plan marketing strategies, reach out to prospective clients, and anticipate seasonal employment. Computer skills. Most photographers do their own postproduction work and must be familiar with photo editing software. They also use computers to keep a digital portfolio and communicate with clients. Customer-service skills. Photographers must be able to understand the needs of their clients and propose solutions. Detail oriented. Photographers who do their own postproduction work must be careful not to overlook details and must be thorough when editing photographs. In addition, photographers accumulate many photographs and must maintain them in an orderly fashion. Interpersonal skills. Photographers often photograph people. They must communicate effectively to achieve a certain composition in a photograph.

LIFESTYLE Long and unstructured hours. Tight deadlines and multiple projects Unusual working conditions — inclement weather, lack of facilities, sometimes dangerous situations. Working independently — I like working independently because I can think and decide by myself. Annual Salary: $23,692 - $55,553 — it is not so high but enough for me. It is a challenge for me! But it is interesting!

LOCATION Everywhere!!

CHOREOGRAPHER Arts, A/V Technology, and Communications Jazz Modern Dance Ballet Tango Tap Choreographers express ideas and stories, using dance.

CHOREOGRAPHER I have already learned dancing for many years and have a great interest on it. I want to take my interest into a job.

10 CHARACTERISTICS Creativity. Dancers need artistic ability and creativity to express ideas through movement. Choreographers also must have artistic ability and innovative ideas, to create new and interesting dance routines. Athleticism. Successful dancers must have excellent balance, physical strength, and physical dexterity, so they can move their bodies without falling or losing their sense of rhythm. Persistence. Dancers must commit to years of intense practice. They need to be able to accept rejection after an audition and to continue to practice for future spots. Choreographers must keep studying and creating new routines. Physical stamina. Dancers are often physically active for long periods, so they must be able to rehearse for many hours without getting tired. Interpersonal skills. Dancers and choreographers may find job opportunities by networking within their communities. Leadership skills. Choreographers must be able to direct a group of dancers to perform the routines that they have created. Teamwork. Most dance routines involve a group, so dancers must be able to work together to be successful.

LIFESTYLE Annual Salary: $51,390 Working Hours: Schedule is vary, depending on where they work. During tours, choreographers spend most of the day in rehearsals and have performances at night, giving them long workdays. Some work part time at casinos, on cruise ships, and at theme parks. Although choreographers who work in dance schools may have a standard workweek when they are instructing students, they spend hours on their own creating new dance routines. Because the schedule depends on myself, I will have much free time to create dance or do other things. Also, this jobs can both be independent and corporate with others. I can enjoy dancing all the time.

LOCATION About 30 percent of dancers work in performing arts companies, and about 57 percent of choreographers work in private instruction. Many dance companies tour for part of the year, and dancers and choreographers in those companies travel for months at a time.
