Australian seasons begin on the first day of the month. In most other countries seasons begin on the twenty-first day of the month. The twenty-first day of December and June are the longest and shortest days. The twenty-first of March and September are the Autumn and Spring solstices.

In Germany, the seasons are the opposite to here in Australia. When it is Christmas in Germany, it snows because it is Winter. But when its Christmas here, it is a hot summer day.

Germans love to celebrate, although much of it is done in private. Here are some of the more interesting annual customs which have become institutions around the country, and, in some cases, around the world.
