Nervous System Study Guide

What two major cell types are in brain? Know each’s role Parts of a neuron? Electrical vs Chemical Signals What happens during depolarization/hyperpolarization/refractory period? Know the role of neurotransmitters, how they are released, how they are removed, and which NT’s are excitatory, inhibitory, or both. Know all Divisions of the nervous system

Know these parts of the brain and what they do: medulla, pons, cerebellum, corpus callosum, thalamus, hypothalamus, amygdala, frontal, parietal, occipital, and temporal lobes Know ventricle locations and connections Know the difference between in vitro and in vivo Know the difference between the different scans Bellringers

Know mechanisms of sense of smell and taste Know the structures of the eye that I mentioned: cornea, iris, pupil, lens, ciliary body, retina, fovea, macula Know the cell types in the retina Know the structures of the ear
