Presentation transcript:

What is Persistent Absence? Information for all pupils, parents and carers The government have issued new guidelines for school attendance. Less than 90% will be classed as ‘persistent absence’ which can lead to Fixed Penalty Notices and possible court action. Please let us all work together to ensure your daughter’s attendance is at the required minimum level of 97% or above (5 days absence or less over the school year). A pupil who is persistently absent is one who misses 10% or more of their schooling for any reason at any given point in the year. Remember, 1 session = half a school day TermsPersistent Absence at 10%Number of days off school September - October7 or more sessions3.5 days September - December14 or more sessions7 days September - February20 or more sessions10 days September - Easter25 or more sessions12.5 days September - May31 or more sessions15.5 days Good attendance ensures pupils reach their full potential, both academically and socially, leading to positive life chances in the future. Please contact the staff at Broughton Hall Catholic High School if there are any barriers to good attendance so that we can provide positive support for both you and your daughter.
