Today’s assembly is to talk about Persistent Absence
Explain that to pupils it may not be their fault (holidays) but wanted them to be a part of the assembly so they can see what impact poor attendance has.

2. Persistent Absence KER
If you take too much time off school you will be categorised as PA or persistently absent. LA set this not us as a school.
Attendance at 90% or below = persistent absence. Unfortunately the LA look at you as a number and not at the reasons why you have been absent.
Missing school will make you fall behind in lessons and will impact on your academic progress and achievement.

Simon thinks this is pretty good, so do his parents. Are they right?

Make sure you know your attendance figure – our school expectation is at least 95%
Only take days off where you are genuinely too ill to come to school.
Don’t take holidays in term time.
Avoid doctors, dentists and optician appointments in the school day.
There are 175 days a year when you are not at school for appointments and holidays.
If you need to speak to someone about your absence, please speak to your PLT OR the Attendance team.
