Exploring the Unknown How do you prepare for the unknown?

Unit Summary In this project, students will relate the Lewis & Clark expedition to real life. They will compare the Lewis & Clark expedition to that of modern day explorers sent to explore the Amazon Rainforest. They will place themselves in the role of group explorers and will be required to create a persuasive Power Point detailing why the president should choose their group for the journey.

CFQs and Objectives Essential Question: How do you prepare for the unknown? Unit Questions: What qualities made the Lewis & Clark expedition successful? Content Questions: -What hardships did the expedition encounter and how did they overcome them? -Who were the important people that contributed to the expedition and what did they do? -What was the purpose of their exploration? Objectives 4.SS Identify the major groups and significant individuals and their motives in the western expansion and settlement in Idaho. 4.SS Analyze and describe how the westward expansion impacted the American Indians in Idaho. 4.LA Write a persuasive letter that states and supports a position.
