2. In this unit, students will learn how physical activity outside the classroom can lead to self-expression and social interaction. Students will gather data on camping, hiking and biking. They will then produce a multimedia presentation to educate their classmates.

3. The intent of this standard is to develop an awareness of the intrinsic values and benefits of participation in physical activity that provides personal meaning. Physical activity provides opportunities for self-expression and social interaction and can be enjoyable, challenging and fun. These benefits develop self- confidence and promote positive self image, thereby enticing people to continue participation in activity throughout their life span.

How do the benefits of physical activity motivate people to stay active? Content Questions What is a social benefit of hiking? How can camping promote self-confidence? How can biking promote community?
