Presentation transcript:

Ecumenical Dialogue Is A Duty of Catholics/Christians/others As baptized Christians, we are all called to evangelize. Evangelization is the root word for “gospel” the “sharing of the “Good News.” Witnessing is giving testimony of one’s religious faith to another person. Evangelizing and witnessing go hand in hand.

How can Catholics engage in dialogue? Evangelize and witness: Give your testimony. Evangelizing is God’s work empowered by the Holy Spirit who allows all to the means of salvation. The Scriptures of other religions also point to a future of communion with God. These encourage people to seek the truth, the values of life, holiness, justice, peace, & freedom.

What the Catechism Says Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience-those too may achieve eternal salvation. (CCC 847)

Ways We Can Create Genuine Dialogue Getting together to care for people who need our help. (The New Commandment) Meeting socially and sharing experiences of from the positions of each’s respective religious tradition.(The Golden Rule) Classroom sharing on experiences such as prayer, traditions, symbols, religious festivals of other religions. Participating in class is another form of dialogue.
