1 Sacraments Sacrament - CC 1123 - "The purpose of the sacraments is to sanctify men, to build up the Body of Christ and, finally, to give worship to God. Because they are signs they also instruct. They not only presuppose faith, but by words and objects they also nourish, strengthen, and express it. That is why they are called sacraments of faith." Sacraments of Initiation - CC 1275 - "Christian initiation is accomplished by three sacraments together: Baptism which is the beginning of new life; Confirmation which is its strengthening; and the Eucharist which nourishes the disciple with Christ's Body and Blood for his transformation in Christ." Baptism - CC 1277 - "Baptism is birth into the new life in Christ. In accordance with the Lord's will, it is necessary for salvation, as is the church herself, which we enter by Baptism, Confirmation- CC 1316 - "Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associates us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds." Eucharist - CC 1407 - "The Eucharist is the heart and summit of the Church's life, for in it Christ associates his Church and all her embers with his sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving offered once and for all on the cross to his Father; by this sacrifice he pours out the graces of salvation on his Body which is the Church." Sacraments of Healing - CC 1421- "The Lord Jesus Christ, physician of our souls and bodies, who forgave the sins of the paralytic and restored him to bodily health, has willed that his Church continue, in the power of the Holy Spirit, his work of healing and salvation, even among her own members. This is the purpose of the two sacraments of healing: the sacrament of Penance and the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick." Reconciliation - CC 1493 - " One who desires to obtain reconciliation with God and with the Church, must confess to a priest all the unconfessed grave sins he remembers after having carefully examined his conscience. The confession of venial faults, without being necessary in itself, is nevertheless strongly recommended by the Church. Anointing of the Sick- CC 1527 - " The sacrament of Anointing of the Sick has as its purpose the conferral of a special grace on the Christian experiencing the difficulties inherent in the condition of grave illness or old age." Sacraments at the Service of Communion- CC 1534- "Two other sacraments, Holy Orders and Matrimony, are directed towards the salvation of others; if they contribute as well to personal salvation, it is through service to others that they do so. They confer a particular mission in the Church and serve to build up the People of God." Holy Orders- CC 1592- " The ministerial priesthood differs in essence from the common priesthood of the faithful because it confers a sacred power for the service of the faithful. The ordained ministers exercise their service for the People of God by teaching, divine worship, and pastoral governance." Matrimony- CC 1661- "The sacrament of Matrimony signifies the union of Christ and the Church. It gives spouses the grace to love each other with the love with which Christ has loved his Church; the grace of the sacrament thus perfects the human love of the spouses, strengthens their indissoluble unity, and sanctifies them on the way to eternal life (cf. Council of Trent: DS 1799)." CONFIRMATION EUCHARIST BAPTISM RECONCILIATION ANOINTING OF THE SICK HOLY ORDERS MATRIMONY
