Background to the HI Career Framework (HICF) UK wide venture led by NHS Wales Identify and open up career opportunities in health informatics Allows individuals to plan careers in health informatics Allows organisations to plan a more effective health informatics workforce

Structure of the HICF  Matrix format  Levels 1 -9 (CF1-CF9)  The Health Informatics staff groups cover:  Knowledge management  Information management  HI Senior managers and Directors  ICT staff  Health Records and Patient Administration  HI Educators and trainers

Content of the HICF The HICF is populated with 50 generic jobs across HI, each is described in the form of a specification covering : Description of the roles and responsibilities involved An indication of related job titles Relevant National Occupational Standards and KSF links Relevant qualifications Relevant professional standards The HICF level

How can the HICF help YOU? The HICF can: Illustrate career opportunities Examples of progression Aiding career planning Case studies Supporting movement in all directions Promoting the ‘bigger picture’ of health informatics
