Possessive Nouns

Possessive Nouns show ownership. The soldier’s boots were shiny. What are the nouns in the sentence? Which noun is possessive?

How do I make a noun possessive? Is the noun singular? Yes! Then add ‘s to the noun to make it possessive! The boy story was unbelievable. The boy’s story was unbelievable.

How do I make a noun possessive? Is the noun singular? No! Is it plural? Yes! Does it end in s ? Yes! Add just an ‘ to the plural noun. The kittens mittens were lost. The kittens’ mittens were lost.

How do I make a noun possessive? Is the noun singular? No! Is it plural? Yes! Does it end in s ? No! Add an ‘S to the plural noun. The children books were in their cubbies. The children’s books were in their cubbies.
