FOOD SERVICES OVERVIEW in 2010 Worked with the Pupil Services Department at the Middle School - Three students are participating in a “work-study” program; Alex, Michael and Jack My staff started using the Stromberg Payroll System in January Discontinued the breakfast program in the Middle School due to lack of participation Replaced the selling of snacks and beverages out of the HS locker room and replaced it with RSD 17 Food Service Breakfast Cart Ended the year in the black-increase of lunch prices increased sales by $31, Catering sales up, Implemented Care Free Celebrations in January, took advantage of Rebates, smarter purchasing 2

Communication Continue to have productive relationships with all administrators Held opening meetings with entire Food Service staff to welcome them back, get their input, update them with any changes, tell them my expectations for the year Held monthly Head cook meetings Visit each cafeteria at least once a week Two employees resigned-Theresa Ledger and Diane Carpenter 3

FOOD QUALITY AND PRESENTATION Work hard on monthly menus to attract new sales- Themed meals, introducing new food items- Front line cooking at the high school Monitor cafeterias for correct portion sizes and less waste Gave free apples out to every student for the week of CT Grown for CT Kids Week 4

Goals and Upcoming Events Audit – we are preparing for the state’s Department of Education Food Services audit this year Wellness committee-To revisit the policy and bring it up to date. Also encourage new involvement Update the monthly menus to attract new sales – Themed Lunches – I ntroducing new food items-student taste tests – Front line cooking at the high school Safety- Require staff to wear safety shoes, I have purchased Cut Gloves for each school- There is a contest for the school with the least amount of accidents 5

Continuous training for staff- Chatham Health Department provided training at the my opening meeting. Linda Kaufman is training on blood borne pathogens, food allergies and child abuse on October 14 th. Updated the Food Services information on the district website which identifies the head cook at each school New equipment has been ordered - KES is getting a new steamer and BES will have a new dishwasher HES will need a new dishwasher before the end of the year Continue to run the department to the best of my ability 6
