Accountant An accountant uses rational numbers by figuring the percentages of taxes they need to take out of your check to pay the government. An accountant uses rational numbers by figuring the percentages of taxes they need to take out of your check to pay the government. Example: You get paid $ a week and then the accountant takes 10% (which is $80.00) of money from check and you have $ Example: You get paid $ a week and then the accountant takes 10% (which is $80.00) of money from check and you have $ $ $80.00= $ $ $80.00= $720.00

A baker has to know how much ingredients to put in food. He uses decimals to measure. He also has to know fractions because he bakes pies. Example: A baker needs 100 oz of milk. He can only measure in cups. So he knows that 8oz=1 cup and 100 oz = 100/8 = 12.5 cups. So he needs 12.5 cups of milk. Example: A baker needs 100 oz of milk. He can only measure in cups. So he knows that 8oz=1 cup and 100 oz = 100/8 = 12.5 cups. So he needs 12.5 cups of milk. 8 oz (US) = 1 cup 100 oz = 100/8 = 12.5 cups 8 oz (US) = 1 cup 100 oz = 100/8 = 12.5 cups 12.5 cups are 100 oz cups are 100 oz.

Builder A builder uses rational numbers by having to know the perimeter of a room using decimals. A builder uses rational numbers by having to know the perimeter of a room using decimals. Example: If a room is rectangle with a length of 48 cm and width of 12 cm, the Builder has to times 48x2 and 12x2 and then add them together to get the perimeter. Example: If a room is rectangle with a length of 48 cm and width of 12 cm, the Builder has to times 48x2 and 12x2 and then add them together to get the perimeter. 48x2=96 12x2= =120 48x2=96 12x2= =120
