ANSWER: Slave. Moved from a slave state to a free state. Owner Died – he sued for his freedom.

QUESTION: Why was the US Constitution cited as a reason to keep Dred Scott in enslaved?

ANSWER: It protected property rights – and slaves were technically “property”

QUESTION: The Dred Scott Decision went a step further and said…

ANSWER: “Banning Slavery” is unconstitutional – it does not guarantee the rights to personal property – therefore – the MO comp is unconstitutional and everything will be pop sov.

QUESTION: What was significant about the presidential election of 1860 and why could it be referred to as “the straw that broke the camel’s back?”

ANSWER: Abe Lincoln won – who was a repulblica – which means he was anti slavery. The Southern states feared that the country was going in a direction that was not in tune with their way of life. Solution? Secede from the Union. Start the CSA.
