What kind of information is the government hiding and why? What it means to be civilized

Walden “It does not keep the country free. It does not settle the West. It does not educate” When this quote says “It does not educate” could refer to the fact that the government knows a lot of scary things about this world that a lot of people don’t know because they feel as if the people can’t handle the truth.

Inside Job The government would mix drugs and prostitution with their business meetings and when those two are mixed together then money is always lost. “Why do you have big banks? Well, because banks like monopoly power; because banks like lobbying power; because, banks know that when they’re too big, they will be bailed.” Banks like to be in control and they do what they want, so they can keep that said power. “The financial industry turned it’s back on society, corrupted our political system and plunged the world economy into crisis.” This event shows that they cant be trusted with our money so how could they be trusted with the secrets that they hold?

What Are They Hiding?  “Bush blocked the scheduled release of documents under the presidential records act of 1978, which mandates that all but the most highly sensitive documents are to be made public twelve years after a President leaves office.” page 1 of What Are They Hiding?  This being blocked shows that the government has something to hide and that it won’t be good if this information gets out but the people deserve to know about what is happening to the world and it only makes people curious to know what it is that the government really is hiding.  “”Security” and “secrecy” aren’t synonyms, but the Bush administration is acting as if they were.” page 1 of Hiding Behind National Security.  It seems as if Bush finds any reason to keep away valuable information from the public whether we should know it or if we shouldn’t. It makes you wonder what this information could do to you if you knew.
