Rock Cycle

Three Types of Rocks Igneous… formed from magma(inside earth)/lava(outside earth) that has cooled and hardened

Three Types of Rocks Sedimentary… formed by sediments being cemented/pressed together

Three Types of Rocks Metamorphic… formed from rock that is changed by heat and pressure

What can happen to rocks??? Three things can happen to EACH type of rock Weathered/eroded and broken into fragments (sediments) then it will erode  cement/compress Undergo heat and pressure then it will change Melt then it will cool & crystalize

Rock Cycle  Rocks can be cycled and cycled.  One rock can turn into another or form new rocks

Rock Cycle

 The amount of matter remains constant while being recycled through the rock cycle.  **Look at poster

Rock Cycle Song (Sing to the tune of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat") SEDIMENTARY rock Has been formed in layers Often found near water sources With fossils from decayers Then there's IGNEOUS rock Here since Earth was born Molten Lava, cooled and hardened That's how it is formed These two types of rocks Can also be transformed With pressure, heat and chemicals METAMORPHIC they'll become.

Discussion  What is the rock cycle?  The rock cycle is a series of processes that change one type of rock into another type of rock.
