Presentation Overview What is it? Does it work? How does it work? Misconceptions Benefits Sports Improvement Stress Reduction Smoking Cessation Weight Control Session details Questions Demonstration This presentation will explain and discuss the following ……….

What Is Hypnosis? Hypnosis is centuries old Highly responsive to suggestions Many examples in daily life Deep relaxation Bullet One-Two Hypnosis has been used for hundreds of years, with the Greek word hypno meaning ‘sleep’ It is actually NOT sleep but refers to a state (sometimes called the ‘trance’ state’) in which clients become highly responsive to suggestions. Bullet Three Whenever a mother kisses a child that has hurt itself and made it better she was at that moment demonstrating the power of suggestion. There is an is old saying "As you think, so you are.“ Bullet Four Hypnosis is just another form of relaxation. It is natural and very pleasant. Infact because you use your imagination during hypnosis it is sometimes called ‘guided meditation’ or ‘guided imagery’.

Does Hypnosis work? Studies have shown that hypnosis can: Decrease Pain Lessen/eliminate symptoms of many ailments Facilitate post operative recovery Pain Free Operations and childbirth Written referral from GP required Bullet One Hypnosis has been accepted by the American and British Medical Associations since the 1950s and is still used in hospital settings for pain management, surgeries, cancer patients and much more. Bullet Two Pain free operations (without a general anesthetic) have been successfully carried out with hypnosis, where complete anesthesia has been induced in the body of the patient. Bullet Three Hypnotherapists may not provide a medical diagnosis or recommend discontinuance of medically prescribed treatments. To work with such a person they must obtain a written referral from their doctor.

How does Hypnosis work? (1) There are two parts to the mind: Conscious Subconscious Bullet One The conscious mind is the part of the mind that we use to ‘think’ for most of the day. It is the ‘analytical’ part that gives us the ability to analyze things. However it can also limit us. The subconscious mind is a storehouse for all of the experiences we have had throughout our lives. It is like an inner ‘Google’ – a search engine. We all use our subconscious mind everyday, from getting out of bed an putting on your socks to driving your cars. It is the source of all our inner potential and talents. The Subconscious Mind is responsible for everyday tasks such as blood pressure, heartbeat rate, memories and things we've been trained to do such as walking and talking. The subconscious functions through imagery and anything it receives it must act upon. E.g. Do not think of a giraffe. That's right... Don't think of a giraffe. Hypnosis is simply setting aside the conscious mind and dealing with the subconscious mind directly

How does Hypnosis work? (2) Removes Negative patterns/behaviors Bullet One Many Negative patterns/behaviors exist in our subconscious mind. These can result in our fears, phobias, habits, etc. Learned patterns of negative behaviors that become cyclical and repetitive. Overtime a person can get locked a the negative pattern of behavior. A negative expectation is created. Hypnosis works by breaking that negative thought/pattern of behavior – basically re-educating the subconscious mind.

Hypnosis Misconceptions Misinformation in the media Stage Hypnosis All hypnosis is ‘self-hypnosis’ You will not be unconscious or asleep You will be in complete control Bullet One and Two There is a lot of misinformation out there in the media from TV, movies and newspapers about what hypnosis is and isn’t. Also the stage hypnotist who wants you to think that he has the ‘power’ Bullet Three In actual fact all hypnosis is ‘Self-Hypnosis’. In other words you are doing it yourself. The hypnotist is just the trained guide or steering wheel to help you access your subconscious mind. Bullet Four Your senses will be heightened during hypnosis. People in hypnosis are very aware of sounds and scents, and sometimes get a tingling feeling in their body as their sense of touch is increased. Bullet Five You cannot be made do anything you do not want to do. Everyone has a ‘moral/ethical code’ and can just as easily reject or accept a suggestion. For example if you don’t want to give up smoking or lose weight there is nothing hypnosis will do for a person

The Many Benefits of Hypnosis Stress Reduction Stop Smoking Weight Control Improve Sports Performance Improve Confidence Eliminate Fears Improve Concentration Improve Exam Performance …plus much more ! Self Hypnosis Hypnosis can assist you with a range of issues such as the elimination of fears, habits and other negative tendencies Hypnosis can also allow people to reach their full potential, such as in sports or exams You will also LEARN SELF-HYPNOSIS which can be used by everyone for any form of self improvement Self Hypnosis is inducing the trance state yourself, by trained relaxation, concentrating on one's own breathing - Famous people have used Hypnosis. For example Actress Daryl Hannah used hypnosis to end her stage fright and Actor Matt Damon quit his smoking habit with hypnosis. Singer Lily Allen has lost two stone using hypnosis

Sports Improvement Assists in achieving results Many benefits including: Remain calm under pressure Maintain Focus Improve Mental Stamina Improves motivation Behavior modification Creative visualization Hypnosis is able to assist the sports person in achieving some really amazing results. This is because it allows sports people to see themselves accomplishing and achieve their goals You frequently hear the expression ‘entering the zone’ what this really means is that the athlete has accessed and is working directly with the subconscious mind, that powerhouse of beliefs and driver of abilities. You might notice how snooker player Stephen Hendry's eyes ‘glaze’ over when he is at his best. Hypnosis works for sports people in 2 main ways: Behaviour Modification: The subconscious mind can be programmed for success. Over a period of time after some disappointments and failures the athlete might develop a negative pattern of behavior or negative expectation. Hypnosis can break these negative behaviors and expectations. Commonly called ‘Behavior modification’. Creative visualization - when the sports person mentally rehearses their performance this sets up an inner blueprint for their body to follow. Can and has been used successfully in many sports including Golf, Snooker and Darts ! Tiger Woods for example has used this method of hypnosis since he was 13 years of age. Tennis player Jimmy Connors also put his success including winning the US open down to hypnosis

Stress Reduction Thinking negative thoughts Cause of more negative behaviors Positive responses can be created Live a stress free life !! Bullet One Simply put, stress results from thinking negative thoughts. 75% to 90% of all doctor's office visits are related to stress Stresses can result in many more habits and negative behaviors smoking to nail biting. Bullet Two By using behavior modification in Hypnosis negative reactions to stressful situations can be broken. Bullet Three People can be addicted to stress, they can enjoy it, until it gets out of control. The subconscious mind can be reprogrammed to positively respond to situations that cause the stress

Smoking Cessation A bad habit !! A learned response 80-90% Success Rate Stop smoking forever ! Bullet One Smoking is just a bad habit! A habit is just simply responding to a thought from the subconscious mind. Bullet Two Most people tie a situation to a cigarette.  For example whenever a smokers wakes up, drives to work, has a cup of coffee or gets stressed, they light a cigarette.  It is called a learned response. Via hypnosis smokers can reach the part of the mind that controls smoking – the subconscious, and break those negative learned behaviors. Bullet Three and Four  Studies have shown that hypnosis is the most effective method of stopping smoking for good, including nicotine patches and will power.

Weight Control Gain control of your eating habits Removes programming Feelings and emotions trigger Feel good about yourself! Bullet One Using hypnosis for weight loss has been proven to be 30 times more successful than other methods ! It helps you to lose weight and keep it off ! Hypnosis helps you to eat when you are truly hungry, eat smaller portions, and make healthier choices in food Bullet Two Dieting alone will end in failure for most people, because the old programming is still there. Hypnosis breaks the old patterns of behavior. Bullet Three Being overweight is not about food. It is more about feelings and emotions that trigger you to eat or snack even when you are not hungry. Food Some examples of these feeling and emotions are: stress, anger, guilt, boredom, pain, ..etc. With hypnosis, we are able to help you identify those feelings and bring them to the surface so we can help you neutralize or eliminate them. Once these feelings are resolved, then food is no longer attractive, as a result you lose weight and start feeling good about yourself.

Hypnosis session details Tailor made individualized service What's involved in a session? Free Self hypnosis CD to take home How many sessions? Relaxed and programmed for Success !! However for people who have attended this presentation I will be giving 30% off the first session (i.e. 70 euros for general session and 105 euros for smoking cessation). Can do deals on multiple sessions. Bullet Two Screening form asking questions such as (give example)/ Preliminary, in which I will address any fears the clients has / Imagination Demonstrations / Hypnosis. All in all the session takes about 90 minutes. All you will need to do is to allow yourself to relax! Bullet Three You will be taught the valuable skill of ‘self hypnosis’ and given a free CD to take away which you can use as part of your self improvement Bullet Four Relaxed and programmed for success
