Outline Introduction of APEC Energy Working Group and our Expert Group APEC Energy Database Energy Supply and Demand by Annual Data – Energy Supply – Natural Gas Production, Import and Export – LNG Trade – Gas Demand in APEC region Monthly Natural Gas Data Collection – Monthly Data Collection as “JODI” – Monthly Trend of Natural Gas Production and Trade Conclusion

3 Energy Working Group Expert Group on Clean Fossil Energy Expert Group on Energy Efficiency and Conservation Expert Group on Energy Data and Analysis (EGEDA) Expert Group on New & Renewable Energy Technologies APEC’s Energy Working Group (EWG), one of the 15 working groups under the APEC umbrella, was launched in EWG sought to maximize the energy sector's contribution to the region's economic and social well being, while mitigating the environmental effects of energy supply and use. EWG recognized the importance exchange of information and energy statistics between APEC member economies and created an Expert’s Group that would be responsible for managing and reviewing the operation of the APEC energy database. Energy Data Collection in APEC through EGEDA Monthly Oil and Gas Data EGEDA started to collect Monthly Oil Data as JODI from 2002 Monthly gas data collection became a regular activity of APEC EGEDA starting July 2007 In 2007, 17 of the 21 APEC member economies were already participating in JODI-Gas As of 2013, all of the 21 member economies had participated in JODI-Gas although PNG’s and Viet Nam’s data submissions were sporadic activities In theory, all 21 member economies could participate but there would be a need for more push from the coordinating agency especially for PNG, Peru and Viet Nam

What is “JODI”?  Joint Oil Data Initiative (2002) >>> Joint Organisations Data Initiative (2010) APEC, Eurostat, GECF, IEA, IEF, OLADE, OPEC and UNSD  Monthly Oil / Monthly Gas Supply submitted by country. Access JODI website:

Monthly Natural Gas Data As of January 2015, only 16 of the 21 APEC member economies submit monthly Natural Gas data – Chile, Indonesia, Peru, PNG and Viet Nam have not submitted since January 2015 – Indonesia, Peru, PNG (from May 2014) are LNG exporters Five of these 16 economies are not able to submit monthly consumption data – China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Russia and Singapore Of the 16 economies, China is not able to report LNG imports consistently

Monthly Natural Gas and LNG Exports (2014) Total Natural Gas ExportsLNG Exports

LNG Share to Total Imports 48.5% 56.2%

APEC Energy Database APEC EGEDA (Expert Group on Energy Data and Analysis) collects monthly, quarterly and annual energy data and post them at the online APEC Energy Database. Monthly Gas data are collected as JODI, which is an initiative to collect world wide monthly Oil and Gas data through international organisations. APEC Energy Database provides LNG information as well as natural gas supply / demand in APEC 21 member economies. EGEDA will continue to cooperate with member economies to improve completeness and timeliness of energy data. Thank you for your attention.
