T The Little Prince Antoine de St. Exupery Section 1: PROBLEMS IN LIFE Section 2: FINDING YOURSELF Section 3: THE HEART OF THE MATTER

Problems Ch. 1 Adults don’t understand anything important. What is truly important is imagination.

Problems Ch. 2 What people can imagine is more satisfying than supplying reality for them.

Problems Ch. 3 Each human being is as much a mystery to every other as if they were all from different planets.

Problems Ch. 4 Appearances seem to matter more to people than the substance of a person’s thoughts.

Problems More Ch. 4 Grownups only believe in facts when they should believe in the mystery of human beings.

Problems Ch. 5 Destructive forces start out almost invisibly and must be regularly weeded out.

Problems Ch. 6 There are days in the lives of some people when they need lots of comfort.

Problems Ch. 7 Even though a loved one may try to protect themselves, there will always be something that can destroy them.

Problems More Ch. 7 We can’t always reach someone who is lost in a land of sadness, even though we want to.

Problems Ch. 8 Knowing how to love another requires knowing what to enjoy and what to ignore about them.

Problems Ch. 9 People aren’t perfect, and silly faults and pretendings can get in the way of a relationship.

Finding Oneself Ch. 10 Lesson 1: CONTROL We have no authority over circum- stances. We would do best to wait until conditions are favorable.

Finding Oneself Ch. 11 Lesson 2: VANITY Every person demands in a way to be admired, yet it serves no purpose to the admired or to the admirer.

Finding Oneself Ch. 12 Lesson 3: IGNORANCE We refuse sometimes to break self-destructive cycles though we know they contribute to our unhappiness.

Finding Oneself Ch. 13 Lesson 4: OWNERSHIP Possessing something only has meaning if you care for it and do it good.

Finding Oneself More Ch. 13 Lesson 4: OWNERSHIP It is a waste of time to spend time accumulating slips of paper to put into the bank.

Finding Oneself Ch. 14 Lesson 5: PURPOSE Take time to enjoy life even though you have demanding and important duties.

Finding Oneself Ch. 15 Lesson 6: LOSS The things we love in life are fleeting. A life or relationship can be gone in the blink of an eye, so appreciate it while it lasts.

The Heart of Things Ch. 16 A life is filled with many struggles and issues: control, vanity, ignorance, ownership, purpose, and loss.

The Heart of Things Ch. 17 If a person gets too homesick or too confused about life, there is a poisonous option that seduces him.

The Heart of Things Ch. 18 At lonely places and times in life, people are scarce when you most need to talk to them.

The Heart of Things Ch. 19 When people feel lost, they try to find their way. They may even yell for help but sometimes there are only echoes of their own cries.

The Heart of Things Ch. 20 When we stumble across an answer, it may not be what we expected and we may be surprised.

The Heart of Things Ch. 21 What makes a relationship special is the time you’ve invested in it, not that it is any different from anybody else’s loves.

The Heart of Things More Ch. 21 Once you’ve “tamed” or gotten to know someone, you’re responsible for that person and you pay the price in tears.

The Heart of Things Ch. 22 No one’s ever satisfied with their love except the children who are attached to one rag doll.

The Heart of Things Ch. 23 To try to not feel a thirst for love saves time and trouble, but without this thirst, life is meaningless.

The Heart of Things Ch. 24 Everything in your life is enhanced by love, even when it is not nearby – your own invisible secret that makes the wheat more golden, the stars brighter.

The Heart of Things More Ch. 24 People are fragile and must be protected by their loved ones or their light might go out.

The Heart of Things Ch. 25 You can’t understand the quenching of a thirst until you’ve been lost in the desert. What we search so long for has often been right in front of us.

The Heart of Things Ch. 26 Once the Little Prince understood what he’d longed for and was foolish enough to leave, he looked for his consolation in leaving his body so that he could be reunited with his flower in the stars.

The Heart of Things Ch. 27 The great and mysterious question: Were they reunited, or had she been destroyed without him there to protect her? Would the muzzle without a strap protect her?
