Presentation transcript:

Biotic Factors - Plants Summarize the composition of an ecosystem, considering both biotic factors (including populations to the level of microorganisms and communities) and abiotic factors.

Lesson #2 - Photosynthesis What do you know about plants? – How are their cells special? – How do they get energy? – Are they abiotic or biotic? How do you know? Let’s use or CLOSE READING skills to read pages in your textbook. Answer the Quick Check questions on page 37 and 39 – turn in by 1:27pm

Lesson #2 – Photosynthesis Activity Can you illustrate photosynthesis? In your journal, illustrate (draw, label, color) the process of photosynthesis using the vocabulary words in the lesson as labels. If you finish early, make sure you have all of the vocabulary words for this lesson defined in your journal.

What are leaves? Today we want to answer the question above and learn how to explain how leaves work. Read pages 40 and 41 in the textbook Copy the illustration on page 40 into your journal and ADD definitions or purpose of each part of the leaf to the label as a caption (use your own words, do not copy word-for- word)

How does water move through plants? Water is vital for most life on earth, do you agree? – How do animals get water? – How do humans get water? – How do plants get water? Please CLOSE READ pages and answer the Quick Check on pages 42 and 44, turn in by 1:27; If you finish early make sure you have the definitions for all the vocabulary words in the chapter in your journal.

Create a Foldable Using construction paper and markers complete the foldables activity on page 45 Tab titles: Photosynthesis, Roots and Stems, Respiration Inside each tab, summarize how each topic relates (has a part in) making a plant’s food IN YOUR OWN WORDS You may include an illustration in the foldable

Think, Talk, Write On page 45, with your table, complete ALL PARTS of the section “Think, Talk, Write” Turn in 1-2 pages with each person’s name
