Wednesday! February 5 th Write it in your Agenda! When is the Standards Assessment?

6.NS.6. Understand a rational number as a point on the number line. Extend number line diagrams and coordinate axes familiar from previous grades to represent points on the line and in the plane with negative number coordinates.  Recognize opposite signs of numbers as indicating locations on opposite sides of 0 on the number line; recognize that the opposite of the opposite of a number is the number itself, e.g., –(–3) = 3, and that 0 is its own opposite.  Understand signs of numbers in ordered pairs as indicating locations in quadrants of the coordinate plane; recognize that when two ordered pairs differ only by signs, the locations of the points are related by reflections across one or both axes.  Find and position integers and other rational numbers on a horizontal or vertical number line diagram; find and position pairs of integers and other rational numbers on a coordinate plane. What is Math Standard 6.NS.6b?

Understand the Coordinate Plane as Horizontal and Vertical Number Lines horizontal-and-vertical-number-lines Graph Points on a Coordinate Plane Reflecting Points Over the X- and Y- axis Reflecting Shapes Over the X- and Y-axis Here are instructional videos to help you understand the components of Math Standard: 6.NS.6b.

6.NS.8. Solve real-world and mathematical problems by graphing points in all four quadrants of the coordinate plane. Include use of coordinates and absolute value to find distances between points with the same first coordinate or the same second coordinate. What is Math Standard 6.NS.8?

 Graph points in any quadrant  Write Coordinate Pairs for Points  Use Absolute Value to find distances between Points  Find the distance between two points in different quadrants  Find the length and width of a rectangle given four points on the coordinate plane on-the-coordinate-plane  Graph and mathematical problems using a coordinate plane  Graph and solve real-world problems using a Coordinate plane plane Here are instructional videos to help you understand the components of Math Standard: 6.NS.8.

 Integers and the Coordinate Plane handout  Write your answers in your math workbook- don’t forget to add Exercises #38-55 to your Table of Contents and start on a “Fresh left.”  If you use loose graph paper, please staple it into your math workbook after you complete the exercises. Common Core Investigation 3.4 and 3.5 Review Exercises #38-55
