3 Notes Translation is a shift of a graph horizontally, vertically, or both. The graph has the same shape and size, just in a different location

5 Example We will need to create a table for two functions: y = |x| y = |x + 2|

6 Example Now we will need to graph the functions

7 Notes In order to translate a function horizontally you can add a number inside the absolute value sign the graph and it will translate to the left. If you subtract a number inside the absolute value sign the graph will translate to the right.
