Project Base and Survey Points Revit projects do not have AN origin… They have TWO origin points!

Survey Point The Survey Point is the coordinates in the World It is “shared” by all buildings on the site It defaults to 0,0,0 You CAN move it!

Project Base Point The Project Base Point is the local “Internal” coordinates It is used ONLY by the building It should match the building form and layout You CAN move it!

Locations and Sites

Single Pair of Files Create two files: site and building Create building geometry with convenient orientation to sheets Link building to site Link center to center Move and/or Rotate the linked file Establish the shared coordinates Duplicate or Rename the shared Site Save Cross-link Link by Shared Coordinates

Multiple Files Create three or more files: site and building A, Building B, etc Create building geometry with convenient orientation to sheets Link building A to site Link center to center Move and/or Rotate the linked file Establish the shared coordinates Duplicate or Rename the shared Site Save Repeat Create additional shared Sites Cross-link Link by Shared Coordinates
