5. Add Components to the Place
To add new component press Customize link located in the right upper corner. The list of available default components will appear.

6. Manage Pages of the Place
To manage pages press Customize link located in the right upper corner, then on the left select “Pages” and the available actions will be shown: Rename, Change Layout, Delete and additionally on top is Advanced Layout.

7. Changing Page Layout
The Welcome page has one column layout. We want to change it to 2 columns and position each portlet in separate column.

9. Using Layout Tools
Navigate: Site Administration → Advanced Administration → Portlets (under Portlet Management) → click Configure Portlet icon of “Edit Layout” portlet

Change “showAdvancedOption” parameter to “Yes”, click OK button and again OK on the parent page.
Now, everything is ready to change column widths on pages. To do that go to your place, press Customize link, select Pages and Change Layout.

Click on Show Layout Tool link from the top. Should be able to set columns width in %

14. Adding Members
To add user to the place use the same Customize link and select People from the left hand side menu. Type surname of the user and when it is found just click Add button.

16. Managing Roles
The default roles are presented. Any role except Managers can be deleted. Any role can be modified. New roles can be added. The next slide shows the Reader role is being edited. The title of the role can be changed and access rights to components and pages as well.

Saving place as template is easy: Customize link, select Properties on the left hand side and click on Save Template.
