The Water Planet

A person could live for 4 to 6 weeks without food but could die in as little as 3 days without water…

71% of the Earth’s surface is covered with water. Surface water and Groundwater along with icecaps and glaciers contain all of the fresh water on Earth. The rest of the water on Earth is salt water in oceans and seas. Out of all of the water on this planet, what percentage do you think is available for human use?

Only 3% of ALL Water on Earth is Fresh Water. LESS THAN 1% OF ALL WATER ON EARTH IS AVAILABLE FOR HUMAN USE!!!

Water in the USA Parts of America use up to 80% of their available freshwater resources. (That means a slight drought or increase in usage will cause a WATER SHORTAGE). At home the average American uses between 100 and 175 gallons of water a day. An American taking a five-minute shower uses more water than a typical person in a developing country slum uses in a whole day.

Water Around the World 1.1 billion people worldwide don’t have access to sufficient water. 1.6 billion people live in areas where there is water, but they can’t afford to drink it.

How long do we have? By 2025, two-thirds of the world will live under conditions of water scarcity…

Green technology may provide a way past peak oil, but there is no escape from peak water.

The Lack of Safe Drinking Water is the Primary Cause of Disease in the World Today 11

Disease and Death million people die each year from water- related disease. The water and sanitation crisis claims more lives through disease than any war claims through weapons. Every 20 seconds, a child dies from a water- related disease.

The UN estimates that in less than 25 years, if present water consumption trends continue, 5 BILLION people will be living in areas where it will be impossible or difficult to meet basic water needs for sanitation, cooking and drinking…
