Mobile Backhaul : Carrier Ethernet PT. INDONESIA COMNETS PLUS Gedung PLN lt.9 Jl. Gatot Subroto Kav.18 Jakarta Selatan 12950 Telp: 5253019, 5253083, 5253147 Fax: 5253659

Terminology and Concepts The Mobile Backhaul is defined as the network between the: Radio Network Controllers (RNCs), and Radio Access Networks Base Station (RAN BS). Mobile Network Structure : PDH over µwave Aggregation Network SDH PDH (E1/T1) SDH/SONET over Fibre Legacy RAN BS 2G and 3G Legacy RAN NC 2G and 3G Access Network PDH / SDH

Cellular Market – Migration, why? Phenomenal growth in mobile subscribers during Y2009 Significant increase in packet-data services in mobile network The trend is heading 50Mbps capacity per cell site for Y2010 Packet Switched Network based on FO promises more bandwidth at lower costs Traditional wireline TDM expansion can’t meet traffic growth and expenses Frequency crowded for microwave backhaul Standardization process 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) ITU-T / ITU-R (Telecommunications / Radio) IEEE802.16 / WiMAX forum Carrier Ethernet MEF 22 (MBH IA) MPLS & Broadband forum (Framework & requirements) IOMETRIX – MEF and CES services certification EANTC – Mobile backhaul interoperability events

3 stages of IP/Ethernet backhaul for LTE IP/Ethernet backhaul solves ARPU-traffic disconnect today and backhaul problem for HSPA today…and LTE tomorrow Copyright © 2010 Infonetics Research, Inc.
