What is TISP? A tool for IEEE volunteers to share their technical expertise and demonstrate the application of engineering concepts to support the teaching and learning of the science, mathematics and technology disciplines A professional development workshop aimed at helping pre-university teachers bring exciting hands-on engineering lessons into their classrooms 2

Which are the goals of TISP? Empower volunteers to collaborate with their local pre-university community Promote applied inquiry-based learning Enhance the level of technical literacy of pre-university educators Motivate pre-university students to pursue technical careers (including engineering) Increase the general level of technical literacy of pre-university throughout their educational careers 3

What is a TISP Workshop? 4 IEEE Volunteers Pre-University Teachers Pre-University Students

Chair Lift Challenge Using the given materials build a chairlift Test your construction Present it and share your experience! 5 Building a Chair Lift

What is TISP 2.0 The workshops are conducted by the IEEE volunteers directly to the Pre – University Students 9 IEEE Volunteers Pre-University Teachers Pre-University Students

How to get involved? (1) Organize a team Contact Schools or Governmental Educational Offices in your area Start with your old teachers, because they will probably be more receptive Choose some activities and lesson plans from the Educational Portals 10

How to get involved? (2) Make your budget Find the needed materials Visit the schools and transfer your knowledge and enthusiasm Information about organizing TISP workshop and sample letters for schools are available on our website: activities/educational-activities/pre-university/puw-news 11

Which are the Educational Portals? 3 portals developed by the IEEE to raise awareness and interest about the fields of Engineering, Computer Science and Nanotechnology: TryEngineering: TryNano: TryComputing: 12
