Kamali is the Vice Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), and Vice Chairman of the Centre of Excellence for Applied Research and Training (CERT), the first Technology Park in the UAE. He is also Chairman of the CERT Thales Institute, Chairman of the Board, Emirates Driving Company, Chairman of the Board, Education Without Borders World Forum Board, Founding Board Member of the World Federation of Associations of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFACP), Member of the Executive Board Leadership Chair Academy – Maricopa Community Colleges, Arizona, USA, Institutional Member of the International Association of Science Parks, Member of the British Business Group and Member of the Gulf Cooperative Council, Dean’s Council. Dr Kamali led the team that developed the vision for the first corporate university in the Gulf region and in 1999, translating the vision into reality, resulted in the Cert Thales Institute, of which he is Chairman of the Board. In 1995, he was the founding CEO of the first technology park in the region at CERT, the Center of Excellence for Research and Training the commercial arm of the HCT. He played a driving role in establishing the World Federation of Associations of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFACP) a non profit global body, of which he is a Founding Member of the Board, to establish a world-wide network of associations and societies of colleges and polytechnics. The WFACP provides leadership in the delivery of lifelong learning, promoting individual progress and that of society and the global economy. Dr. Kamali holds a Doctorate in Engineering from George Washington University, and an MBA and Bachelor of Science degrees in both Aeronautical Engineering and Aircraft Engineering from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, USA. In seeking to maintain a strong international perspective on management and education Dr Kamali has been a regular visitor to leading international educational institutions, including a term as Visiting Pro-Vice Chancellor - International at the University of Wollongong in Australia. In the summer of 2001, Dr. Kamali was a Visiting Fellow of Pembroke College, at Cambridge University, in the U.K. and he has been a participant in seminars at Cornell “Distance Learning and Higher Education” and Harvard Universities. He is a regular speaker at national and international conferences and forums and a contributor to and editor of several publications. Dr Kamali’s presentations and publications have been concerned with such diverse topics as ‘Developing Quality Blended Learning Programs’, ‘eLearning - Higher Colleges of Technology Model’, ‘The Power of Partnerships’, ‘Doing Business in the Knowledge Economy’, ‘Developing Human Capital’, ‘Nurturing a National Technological Base’ and the educational progress of the UAE. He was recently the keynote speaker at Online Educa, Berlin in December 2004 with the presentation “Emerging eLearning in Higher Education”.
