3.If you were a reporter in Jerusalem on Shavuot, or Pentecost, how would you have reported what happened Where were the apostles on the Day of Pentecost? What promise was fulfilled (v4) at this time? (v1:8) 4. Dr. Wiersbe says the book of Acts contains non-repeatable events, transitional happenings, and basic spiritual principles. What examples of each of these do you see in Acts 2?

What was it that amazed and confused all the Jews from the other nations? Which nations were represented? What region did the apostles come from? What did the people hear the apostles speaking about? How did the crowd react? Thought Question Thought Question - Why do you think God caused this miracle to occur?

Passover (14 th ) Feast of Unleavened Bread (15 th ) Feast of First Fruits (21 st ) Feasts of: Festival of Weeks / Pentecost (50 days after Feast of First Fruits) Trumpets, Day of Atonement Tabernacles Lights Purim

How do the following Scripture passages describe the purpose and work of the Holy Spirit? John 14:26, John 16:7-14, Romans 5:5, 1 Corinthians 12:13, Ephesians 1:13-14, Titus 3:5, Hebrews 10:15-17 Was this the first time the Holy Spirit had been activated? Gen 1:1-2, Acts 1:16 What three signs accompanied the Spirit?

What is the significance of Peter “standing with the eleven”? 5.How did Peter explain what was happening that day? Why would it have been very unlikely that the apostles were drunk? From which Old Testament prophet did Peter quote? When were the prophecies to be fulfilled? (v17, v20)

6. What proofs did Peter give of Christ's resurrection? From verses 22-24, list three things God had done. What had Peter’s listeners done? What was impossible for Christ to do? Where is Jesus now, according to verses 33-34? 7. How can we use these same proofs when we witness?

What was the response to Peter’s sermon? What did Peter tell the people they must do? What did Peter promise those who would repent? Who did this promise include (v39)? Looking back over Peter’s sermon, why do you think he called that generation perverse? How many people responded and were baptized that day?

8.What are the primary characteristics of the first church? 9.How does your church compare with the first church? In what ways should it be more like the first church? 10.What can you do to help your church be more like what you've described?

What should all of Peter’s listeners know for sure after listening to his sermon? Do you think the promise in V39 extends to you? Why or why not? What lessons do we learn from Peter’s sermon on how we should share the gospel with others?
