Standards Education Speakers Bureau 2013 Update for SEC: February 2013 Susan Tatiner and Rona Gertz

SESB Speaking Engagement Update Due to a reduction in the funds allocated to the Speakers Bureau Program ($9K total available through belt-tightening), changes will be made to the program. Revised goal for 2013 will be 4 speaking engagements. No honoraria will be awarded. “Alternating current” mode for SESB: In addition to filling requests for engagements for existing opportunities … We will try to create opportunities by offering one of our speakers in a location where he or she will already be. This will be less costly. 2

Engagements Advanced Energy Conference: Tom Prevost to speak on Smart Grid topic in April/May timeframe at New York University. STATUS: Confirmed by SEC COST: $1.5K Standards Education Workshop following ITU Kaleidoscope Conference: Wael Diab to participate in Workshop on behalf of IEEE on 25 April in Kyoto. In addition, possible speaking engagement at Tokyo University on 26 April. STATUS: Confirmation by SEC requested today COST: IEEE contribution not to exceed $2.5K 3

Engagements to date (cont’d) Africon 2013: To be held in the Mauritius 9-12 September STATUS: Looking for speaker from Europe COST: Depends on speaker found; aiming to spend no more than $2.5K Approximately $3K remaining in budget. Willing SEC members should contact Rona with suggestions for additional speaking engagements and information about their travel plans. We will try to arrange engagements to coincide. 4
