History The formal name for Zyrtec is cetirizine It is a second generation antihistamine Zyrtec was only sold by prescription up until late 2007.

What does it do? Because Zyrtec is an antihistamine, it blocks a histamine in the body Histamines can cause allergy symptoms like runny nose, itchy eyes, and sneezing.

Side Effects Serious side effects: quick heartbeat, insomnia, confusion, and problems with vision Not as serious side effects: dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, sore throat, cough, nausea, constipation, and headache

What area of the body? Zyrtec effects the eyes, nose, head, and lungs It is used to stop symptoms for allergies that occur in those areas of the body. (itchy eyes, runny nose, coughing, etc.)

Different Types Zyrtec can be bought and taken in various ways These are: liquid gels, tablets, and syrup

Cost The cost for the Zyrtec tablets product can range from $20 to $40. Walgreens $20 CVS $40

Don’t Use If… People shouldn’t use this product if: They have had liver or kidney disease They have an enlarged prostate People should not drive or use any other type of machinery because it causes drowsiness.

My Use I have used Zyrtec many times throughout my life. I have found that it is very good at stopping my allergies. I never had any problems with any of the side effects listed in the presentation.
