Oxford Dictionary Definition of a Mentor mentor noun 1. an experienced and trusted adviser. 2. an experienced person in an organization or institution who trains and counsels new employees or students. — ORIGIN from the name of Mentor, the adviser of the young Telemachus in Homer’s Odyssey.

Definition of a Mentor A Mentor is: “a trusted counselor, advisor, and a guide”

Oxford Dictionary Definition of a Protégé. protégé noun (fem. protégée) a person who is guided and supported by a more experienced person. — ORIGIN French, ‘protected ’.

Definition of a Protégé A protégé is: “one who seeks to learn and grow with guidance of a more experienced knowledgeable person.”

Myths about Mentoring Mentoring is always face to face. Mentoring is always long term. Mentors should be older. Mentoring is rare. Mentors do not benefit.

Group Activity Benefits of Mentoring In your table groups. Groups are assigned one of the three partners in a mentoring situation. Groups 1 & 4 “Mentor”… Groups 2 & 5 “Protégé… Group 3 “Lions Club and or LCI” You will have 5 minutes to set out how the mentoring partner assigned to your group will benefit from Mentoring.
