World War 2 started on the 1st of September 1939.Who started it? Adolph Hitler.He wanted to rule the world(or at least all the big countries).

During the years of 1940 and 1941 there were frenzied bomb attacks called the Blitz.The word Blitz is a shortened German word Blitzkrieg.It means quick,heavy bomb attacks.You wouldn’t have liked to be alive then!

At least children were safe from the Blitz;they had to be evacuated.Children who were evacuated had to carry a box with a gas mask in it at all times,they also had to have a name tag that had there name,adress and age on it.

Lord Woolton made Rationing so that even though German U boats were blowing up our food supplies,everyone got an equal amount of food.

At last the British were victorious and the Germans gave in!So that’s world war to for you, By Holly and Tom
