“The Student and the Project”

There once was a student named Jane who loved Social Studies, especially her favorite teacher Mrs. Miller! Mrs. Miller loved having Jane in class too, especially since Jane would get so excited about computer projects!

One day while in class Mrs. Miller announced, “Class we are about to go to the lab to work on a fun project I think you will enjoy, let me go over the directions and then get to work.” Jane sat in her seat awaiting the fun lesson she was about to begin, after hearing the directions the class went to the lab to begin!

Jane’s friend Sue also loved projects, being a straight A student though she figured since it’s the end of the year she would just rush through the assignment and then play games on the computer.

Jane and Sue worked together on the first part of the project. Jane said, “Sue I really like this fabel lets use this one I really think it will be fun.” Sue replied, “Sure that’s fine I just want to get done.”

The two friends went their separate ways creating the project. Sue, “Yes I’m done!, now I can play games. Mrs. Miller could you come check this project.” Mrs. Miller comes and checks the project, “Sue this is nice, but have you looked at Jane’s, she really is taking her time and look how great it is.” Mrs. Miller walks away.

Jane says, “Wow Sue, look at this really good picture, it fits my slide’s content perfectly.” Sue, “Yeah yeah, I’m playing a game.” Two days later both girls submit their project to Mrs. Miller.

Mrs. Miller exclaims, “I am done with the project grades, I will pass them out as you are working today!” Jane gets her paper and responds, “Yeah a 105%, Mrs. Miller loved it so much she gave me EXTRA CREDIT! My hard work and taking my time paid off” Sue says, “Oh no a C, my mom is not going to like this.”

 Rushing through your work may seem like the best idea at the time because you get to have fun, but in the end the one who takes their time and does a good job is the one who wins!
